Introduction to the Angelic Couple

It so happens that in the history of mankind the Supreme manifests in many forms at the same time for reformation of not just millions, but of all the people on the earth. Revered Gurudev can be seen as one such incarnation which manifested from era to era as incarnation as well as Guru. Spreading enlightenment on a colossal scale during a life-spam of 80 years, the incarnation merged with that subtle vital group of Rishis (savants) who are committed to bringing the transformation of this era in a short while. The Rev. Mataji was a form of Shakti (power) which sometimes manifested as Mahakali or Mother Janaki, sometimes as Mother Sharada and sometimes as Mother Bhagwati to accompany the benevolent rule of Lord Shiva. She too has now merged in subtle form with her Lord. To-day both of them are not with us in physical form, but they have left behind monuments for human reformation in the form of Shantikunj, Hardwar, Brahmavarchas Hardwar, Gayatri Tapobhumi Mathura, Akhand Jyoti Sansthan, Mathura and Yug Teerth Aanwalkheda (Agra) and also battalions of volunteers committed to carrying on work of human enlightenment and reformation.
Gurudev's real evaluation will be done by historians after a few years, but if today someone wants to experience his presence, he can see him in the from of the vast ocean of life-giving literature written over 50 years, which together weighs more than the weight of the body of Rev. Gurudev. On reading it one feels as if the Rev. Gurudev has written it by dipping the pen in his own blood. Each word touches your heart and changes your thoughts. He has in this way transformed millions of men and women by touching their hearts and minds. The revolutions of Rousseau for democracy and of Karl Marx for communism pale before his writings. His writings can fill an encyclopedia. Looking at his multifaceted personality and his fields of work, one cannot decide what to write about him because his area of work included the following and much more: Organizer, seeker and devotee, enlightener of millions, reviver of Gayatri's study and worship, reviver of the tradition of 16 sacraments, a loving father to his followers, a relentless campaigner for the awakening of women's power with boundless compassion for them, single-handily creating the colossal Gayatri-family of over 10 million followers.
As a result of the dark era of ignorance because of a thousand years of foreign domination over Nepal, perversities have increased so much in our thinking that all the efforts for progress simply fall flat. All the plans for reform and progress become unsuccessful because of weakness of character. We will have to go to tremendous lengths to campaign for 'Bhavnatmak Nav-nirman' (resurgence of good thinking, and good sentiments) that it will immerse the public-mind in the courage and commitment to good character, idealism, goodwill, tremendous hard work, and adopting what is proper. The path to progress will open up in pro portion to the success of this movement. The mysterious background to the colossal form of 'Yug Nirman Andolan' (the movement for the resurgence of the era of goodness and new order) is known only to the few, but it is definite that this movement will be profound and colossal and will be completely successful. Who and which institutes get the honor for this success is not important, but it is going to be certainly carried out. To-day the need is felt of those strong hands which will be capable of carrying on this momentous task.
The last phase of this movement will be struggle some because demoniac tendencies will not be eliminated by mere politeness and request. This will require fighting at every step. Individual desires, passions, narrowness, selfishness, hedonistic living, shirking work and discourtesy have to be fought at the level of self-formation through personal efforts. Perversities of individuals, family, society, nation and the world will be fought by the weapons at that level only. The Yug-Nirman Andolan (movement for the resurgence of the era of goodness and new order) with the aim of total change has now come near the threshold of projects requiring struggle. This is the last phase of the movement in which the entire movement has been divided into two parts. Creative or constructive movement is in the first part whereas the second one consists of movements requiring struggle. Brief information on these movements is given in the next article "Creative or Constructive Movement Nurturing Faith".

Instant Enlightenment

In these days of instant coffee, time-saving devices, and quick service restaurants, some people are impatient. They want fast results - instant Enlightenment. So they turn to psychedelic (mind expanding) drugs to chemically precipitate an instantaneous shift to higher consciousness. But more and more people are realizing that drugs are not the way to self-realization; they are only a faint reflection, a shadowy glimmer, of that blissful, all expanded state of consciousness. Many of the "Gurus" of the psychedelic movement in the West have widely spoken of their own realization of the limitations of drugs: Drugs opened the door for us into the mansion of the mind, and we saw there are so many rooms inside. But then we found that drugs could only give us a glimpse of the interior - they could not lead us inside to explore. For that, we have to meditate - there is no short-cut .Richard Al pert (Ram Dass), one of the pioneers of LSD use who later turned to Yoga, described his psychedelic career: "It was a terribly frustrating experience, as if you came into the kingdom of heaven and you saw how it all was and you felt new states of awareness, and then you got cast out again.
Many experimental studies have shown that meditation is a superior replacement for the grug "high", as 85% of drug users in some studies - even drug abusers - who start practicing meditation completely stop taking drugs (psychedelics, amphetamines, opiates, and alcohol). One scientist commented, "One sees many long-time drug users give up drugs for meditation. But one does not see any long-term meditations give up meditation to become acid-heads. This observation supports the contention that the highs obtainable by meditation are better than the highs obtainable through drugs.
Indeed, sometimes sudden drug-induced glimpses of higher consciousness may even be dangerous. When one abruptly penetrates into the powerful super-conscious realm and the tremendous energies of that state are suddenly released, if the mind and body have not been carefully prepared to receive them, the result may be a "bad trip" - or even psychosis. Many mediums whose minds are very sensitive to super-conscious influences are constantly fearful of "evil spirits"; but what they call "possession" is actually their loss of control over their own overwhelming supra-mental forces.
Artistic geniuses like Blake, Verlaine, Coleridge, Baudelaire and Ban Gogh, who worked in a state of super-conscious awareness, often suffered greatly trying to integrate this break-through to higher realms with the "reality" of their everyday lives. Van Gogh constantly felt himself going mad; he painted his last painting of a road ending abruptly in the middle of a cornfield and after he finished it, killed himself in the cornfield.
Thus, Yogis have always emphasized the importance of the gradual and careful preparation of the mind and body to receive and control the unlimited powers of the super-conscious state. One master told his disciple, who had begged him to give him the experience of higher consciousness, "as a small lamp bulb would be shattered by excessive voltage, so your nerves are unready for the cosmic current. If I gave you the infinite ecstasy right now, you would burn as through every cell where on fire". Through centuries of experimentation, a scientific physical and mental system was developed to safely and easily attain the bliss of higher consciousness and then integrate these expanded states with normal, waking consciousness, to live life with fuller awareness.
Like hypnosis, drug-induced altered states of consciousness lead us not out of bondage but further into it - for the goal of every human being is liberation through consummate self-control.

Inner Transformation and Virtuous Elevation

The extraordinary changes, transmutation educed by Gayatri Sadhana are first experienced in the inner self. These inspire the Sadhak's mind thoughts and sentiments towards the righteous path. Gradually, the evil assimilation the vices, the weakness of mind are waned out with a simultaneous increase in virtuous potentials and inner strength. This way, the Sadhak gets endowed with enlightened personality and talents that make his life more blissful, successful and peaceful and nurture righteous progress on the materialistic as well as spiritual fronts.
The excelling of mental tendencies is also accompanied by a positive orientation of attitude that inspires welcome change in every act of life. Straying of mind in agile passions of the sense organ begins to reduce with this healthy development. The greed of the tongue and associated irregular and excessive eating habits come under control. The attraction and stimulation of carnal desires diminish and the mind gradually learns the importance of chastity for protection of vital energy. The cravings and excitement the tongue and sex-organs are said to be the major impediments in the practice of self-realization and refinement. Disciplining these too becomes easier by the psychological impact of Gayatri Sadhana and the path to health and vigor gets shorter thereby. The flickering of mind reduces and thus helps organized transaction of daily chores. Cleanliness, orderliness and industriousness take place of negligence and lethargy. This accelerates the progress and enhances the likelihood of success in the work at hand.
The mental cleansing and cultivation of intellectual or creative talents naturally controls and melts the untoward instincts of impatience, fury, jealousy, anxiety and addictions. And, self-discipline, endurance, courage, modesty, contentment, benevolence, etc grow in corresponding proportions. This internal reshuffling of the mental field liberated the Sadhak from the smog of illusion, blemishes, and worries. Many problems and complexities of his life are thus resolved without any extra effort. The behavioral qualities of humility, punctuality, sincerity, integrity, generosity, service, etc bring him co-operating interactions from other also. People often like and respect such a person. The consequent expansion of benevolence (goodwill), amity, gratitude and fruitful collaboration in his life enhance the flow of content and serene love in his heart that gladdens his soul too. This way, he begins to enjoy heavenly bliss in the same 'ordinary' life Thus Gayatri Sadhana bestows divine bequests in the Sadhak's life by educing a grand transmutation and enlightenment in his inner personality.

Inevitable Role of Sadhana in Divine-Worship

The process of Japa-Dhyana etc in the daily Upasana of Gayatri may last only for a small stretch of time every day. But this alone does not suffice for the supernatural effects and spiritual blessing of Gayatri Shakti. Sadhana is essential with Gayatri-Upasana. As food and water, night and day, summer and winter, man and woman are supplementary to mutual existence, so is the conjugation of Upasana and Sadhana. Upasana would remain incomplete without Sadhana. Sadhana is an endeavor of overall self-refinement. It has to continue round-the-clock. It demand the Sadhak's consistent alertness and discerning observation of his habits, thoughts, every reaction and action to find out if there is any blemish, vice, disorder or infirmity. The soldiers on the front have to be on constant vigil of the enemies' movements and intentions. A Sadhak too is a warrior in the battlefield of his own life. He has to be aware and watchful on every front of life. This determined aptness inculcates Sadhana as a natural component of one's life.
Sadhana is a pledged vow for fair and prompt self-analysis and discerning improvement. A Sadhak is supposed to strive to ameliorate his attitude, behavior and nature and cultivate more enlightened and virtuous tendencies and talents. Those who think that only the sincere performance of Japa-Dhyana (Upasana) would serve the purpose of Sadhana would wipe out such illusions from this very day. Else, they may never experience the amazing boons and divine grace of Gayatri and would be disappointed. Upasana indeed gives initial inspiration and support for Sadhana but the depth of mental engrossment and the internal and external piety required for the spiritual effects cannot be aroused and sustained without Sadhana.

Immortality of Soul

Generally people accept the concept of immortality of the soul on the basis of inherited faith or tradition, but there lurks a doubt about its authenticity. Let us not accept this concept blindly without reasoning. It could be hearsay? If you are told to sit for meditation and are asked to conceive; "I have died", it may appear a dimple proposition; but when you actually begin to do so, it would be impossible to think that you as individuality have ceased to exist. It would not be difficult to have such a simple imagery for those who have been practicing the elaborate exercises of one think about one's death, although an image of one's dead body is formed in the mind, at the same time there is awareness. "I am standing aside looking at it". This "I" is ever vigilantly, ever present. Try as one may, one cannot conceive the death of this "I" - the seer. The analytical faculty of one's intellect (Vichar Buddhi) thus insists that the soul ("I") is immortal. In this way deep within human consciousness is entrenched an unwavering faith in the immortality of the soul. By no endeavor whatsoever can this intuitive faith are rooted out. It is based on numerous past experiences of death (of the body) in earlier births, beyond which the soul has continued to exist. When a person becomes unconscious because of shock or under the influence of drugs, this "I" remains wide awake and alert. Otherwise, on regaining normalcy, how could a concerned person know that he had been unconscious? Firm faith in one's real self as indivisible, immortal and beyond the reach of physical, sensory perceptions, is an essential pre-requisite for starting on the path of self-realization. Until the seeker develops such a faith, one cannot have unqualified, absolute belief in immortal and eternal existence of one's Real-Self and keeps on relapsing to the old accustomed narrow outlook, in which one considers the body as the self, thus rendering all efforts for Self-Realization meaningless. Hence the seekers are advised to concentrate on developing a deep conviction of immortality of the Inner S elf - the real "I". First become fully convinced of the immortality of the soul, only then take up spiritual Sadhana. Even in the course of progress of Sadhana it is advisable to periodically remind oneself about this reality of the Inner-Self. Later such perception will prove to be of great help in experiencing. Awakened Awareness of one's soul (Atma-Swoaroop Sakshatkar).

The Inner-Self is immune to physical forces
During meditation visualize that your Real Self is getting separated from the body, that it has the potentiality to overcome the constraints imposed on it by the five basic elements of which the body is constituted, namely - Aakash (either), Vayu (Air), Agni (fire), Jala (water) and Prithivi (earth) respectively. Scriptures tell that these five are the everlasting primordial constituents of all forms. Conceptualize that your Inner-Self is no longer confined by the body.
Henceforth, in the following discussions wherever the words "I", "MY", or "ME" are mentioned in the test, these refer to the soul speaking on behalf of the individual being.
Conceptualize: Now "I" have acquired independence. Therefore,, "I" can now fly all over the space (Aakash) like birds., whenever "I" so will. Now the force of air can no more obstruct MY movement or speed in any way; nor can it dehydrate ME. (Sole being a supernatural entity - without water as its constituent).
Further visualize going through a huge column of fire. "I" am passing through it comfortably without feeling any heat or pain. How can the soul, which is supernatural, be burnt? The access of heat is limited to heat-sensing, the inflammable organs of the material body. Similarly, the soul (ATMA) is free from the effects of earth (Prithivi) . In other words, no element of the physical world can touch "ME", nor can it create least the obstruction in "MY" freedom.

Imitation of The Experiment And Future Plans

Keeping in view the foregoing considerations, the founder of the present Yug NiRMAN MISSION (A mission for the resurrection of perennially true ideals for the present era) took the lead in formulating the strategy for the proposed VICHAR KRANTI ABHIYAN (an uplifting ideological Revolution). Donating each and every cent of his personal and inherited property for social welfare and keeping a minimum for personal sustenance, he presented himself as a role model of an ideal social worker. In this way, he exemplified, that those desirous of making contributions of their time, labor, skill or intellectual talents to the present ideological revolution (which is the topmost priority of mankind today) can do so only by first himself being free from greed, attachments and egoist. Only then is one left with sufficient time, resources and motivation for the noble cause.
For the founder of this mission, this has been the guiding principle throughout his life from the adolescent age of 15 years to the advanced age of 80 years. Presenting his own self as a role model, he encouraged everyone coming in his contact to attempt for greater excellence in life and follow the path of high idealism. It this way he has been a true teacher in letter and spirit. The literature created by him, including the monthly periodicals "Akhanda Jyoti and Yug Nriman Yojana" in Hindi and seven other magazines published in other Indian languages have not only given nourishing food for thought to millions of their readers but has also moved them so deeply that they could not ignore the suffering of humankind and came forward to make some contribution for its alleviation. At present the readership of these periodicals has increased beyond 1.2 million. Besides, each issue is being read by at least five other persons besides the subscriber. In this way, ideologically, the mission is in close contact with innumerable people. This is the manpower involved in the implementation of the gigantic schemes incorporated in this ideological Revolution. The number of persons joining the moment is progressively increasing in geometric progression. Thus, this Endeavour has the potential of touching over one hundred million persons a large number of whom could become active participants in this campaign for total human transformation. One needn't be either surprised or skeptical about this global revolution. (The growth of Information Technology is hastening the process). In the history of humankind, there have been several instances of such Ideological Revolutions Transforming the very texture of cultures. It need not be surprising if the ever-increasing numbers of persons actively involved in this ideological campaign could create an environment heralding the dawn of a new era in the twenty-first century.

Hurdles in Sadhana

Many persons aspire for spiritual progress but do not achieve the desired progress because of their halfhearted, lop-sided process of Sadhana. The goal of Sadhana is to violently shake man out of his body-conscious state of slumber, so that he becomes fully awakened to the reality of his true identity as an Immortal Soul. The holistic therapy for any disease involves treatment of the root cause of the malady. Mere palliatives do not serve the purpose. The same principle holds true in case of spiritual Sadhana. No doubt, the conventional rituals of Sadhana like continence, philanthropy, fasting, Jap, anusthan, yajna, etc. are beneficial as initial steps. Nevertheless, they do not constitute the totality of Sadhana. These rituals do enhance purity of mind, positive traits and nobility, but these alone do not lead to Enlightenment, which reveals the illusory and transient nature of the phenomenal world and our free identity as immortal souls - sparks of the Divine. The purpose of this passage is to help and guide a spiritual seeker to awaken to the presence of his indwelling Divinity. A person of awakened awareness of the spirit effortlessly lives a life of nobility, righteousness and loving kindness.
Once this paradigm shift of consciousness is accomplished, the confines of "I" and "MINE" expand infinitely to encompass the whole of the universe. Such a realized soul feel that he has far greater responsibilities to shoulder than mere caring for his narrow physical-self and related persons and things. As one climb higher and higher on this spiritual ascent, one's sense of belonging expands accordingly and finally, looking around as far as one can from the top of a hill, one discovers that he is none with all existence. Earlier, a person had to take care, perhaps, of his children, siblings, a few relatives, a few employees, some possessions, etc., but now these thousands upon thousands of things and people around appear needing his personal care. In other words, as one's field of vision widens on climbing a hill, so does the perspective of self on self-realization. The tiny egocentric, body-confined sense of I-ness vanishes for good.
Let us try to understand this concept through an analogy. Let us consider the air in a balloon as the limited-self. Blowing air in this balloon expands it and it occupies more and more space, till it bursts. The air in the balloon becomes part of the vast expanse of air surrounding the earth. In the same manner, progressive expansion of self identity ultimately leads to the realization that it was inseparably connected with all creation. It was the body-consciousness (the balloon), which was creating the illusion of an isolated, independent existence of one's own. In a nutshell, this is the vision of Self-realization. This is the basic tenet of the super-science of spirituality, which constitutes the core of the various religious faiths and mystic paths all over the world. In nutshell, this is the core of all disciplines of spiritual practices, irrespective of the people, places, or variety of worship.
Once having a glimpse of the true self, the seeker can never return to the confines of the old narrow perspective of self. In common human life in each moment, there is a lurking worry and fear of a possible disaster. Man is in desperate search of a perennial source of happiness, but he is seeking it outside of himself - in possessions, pelf, power and relations. When one dying of thirst in a desert finds an oasis of cool water, would one ever think of returning to the wasteland of scorching sand? ""Yadgatva Ba Buyartate Taddgan Oarnan Nan" proclaims the Divine Teacher in Bhagwadgita. It means, "Having experienced the bliss of Self-Realization who would like to come back for suffering mundane worldly woes?" Having reached the destination, the question of losing direction does not arise. Does one forget the way back to home after homecoming?
Vices like lust, anger, greed, infatuation and cravings for sensory pleasure keep man always entangled in the cobweb of misery. On account of the ever-changing nature of material world, one can never have lasting peace and happiness on this plane. Throughout life man keeps on lamenting for loss, craving for more and more of what he considers pleasant and getting frustrated on denial of his wishes. The attachment to the pleasant and repulsion the unpleasant are two root causes of retrogression, which drag the being to births in sub-human species of animal kingdom. (Laws of science of spirituality state that in course of its progressive evolution, the soul of a being inhabits bodies of successively higher more evolved species of biological kingdom and birth as a human being is the culmination of this evolution. It is further stated that indulgence in aforementioned animal traits sets the clock of progressive evolution backwards). The methods prescribed in spiritual practices in various faiths are meant to rise above the pull of these beastly tendencies. In the Bhagwadgita, human mind is personified as Arjun. In the battle of Mahabharata, which symbolizes the perpetual inner battle between the good and the evil within our own selves, he is exhorted by God-incarnate, Sri Krishna, to fight against the annihilate his own intimate relatives (evil traits) personified as the Kauravas. We will discuss latter that simple exercise for elevating the level of consciousness of man to a super-conscious state where he becomes totally free from degrading traits of worldly life. Self-Realization endows the seeker with celestial virtues of divinity. As mentioned earlier, progressive expansion of the ego-consciousness and the individual being attains at-one-ment with the omnipresent Supreme Being. Some scepters may interpret this path of soul-growth as the way of the recluse or the ascetic, who wants "Nirvana" (deliverance) or who desires to be detached from worldly life for altruistic pursuits. One may argue that this Sadhana is only for those who are interested in the benefits of life beyond death, whereas all efforts of a common man are focused on the pleasures of this world only; that most of the time of man in his daily routine is taken up by such things as business, job, education, entertainment, etc. and he has little or no inclination or time to think of and provide for life beyond death.
It is natural to have such doubts since in today's world, the confused mindset of man rreats well-being of self in this world and in the worlds beyond death as two different pursuits, whereas factually these cannot be compartmentalized. What pertains to this world is also covertly related to the other. These are inseparable like two sides of the same coin. The subject matter of this writing does not permit dealing in detail with this misconception. Suffice it to say that the cultivation of Self-Awareness is the most efficacious method of success in practical life of this world as well. All progress in this world goes hand in hand with the progressive evolution of human consciousness. One, who is endowed with the inner-strength of soul, has the capacity to succeed in all avenues of life.
The simple and natural method of communion with God is in knowing one's true immortal self, appreciating dignity of human life, finding out the specific role of human species in the creation of God, and thereafter starts functioning without any ego-centered motive as the Manager of His estate; whatever part of it has been entrusted to your care. There can be no more Soul-Satisfying art of living than this.
There should be no ambiguity in understanding this plain truth that there are two root causes of success or failure in any human endeavor: One - a correct appraisal of one's capabilities and shortcomings; and two- knowledge about availability of means and resources required to complete the assignment. In spite of being endowed with the best of intellect, one cannot arrive at the right decision in the absence of hard facts about these variables.
Spiritual masters say: Remember! The soul in you is indestructible. You are not a non-entity, but a magnificent creation of God. Do not feel weak in any respect. Nor beg for anything. You are immensely powerful. There is no limitation to what you can do. The potentials with which you have appeared in this world can undoubtedly overcome all obstacles in your way to success. Your capabilities are more powerful than the obstructions to be overcome. Success and happiness are your birthrights. Wake up! Identify your true self; assess your means and resources and wisely go ahead towards the set goal. You will find that there is nothing that you aspire for is beyond your reach. You are the "Kalpavriksha" and "Kamdhenu" (heavenly tree and cow) of heaven, which grant all wishes. You are success personified. Come forward and take charge of what is your due.
In my view you are not merely a body, nor like any other less evolved species on earth, but are a manifestation of attributes of God. Body and mind are your tools. You are not a slave of your sensory organs. Animal-like habits cannot enslave you. The pollutants of thoughts cannot withstand your inner strength. In essence, a human being is an embodied soul, with the body as an instrument. Understand this distinction clearly and unambiguously. When man regards the "self" as his body, the soul cannot use the body effectively. The distinction enables the soul to make use of the body as an instrument of Self-Growth. This is the task before man. Any task can be successfully accomplished if there is clarity of vision and purpose. This is the Yoga of perfect skill in works (Yogaha Karmasu Kaushalam -Gita). Diligently aspire to be such a Yogi.
The purpose of this writing is to motivate you to make your due contributions to the real well-being of this world and the world beyond, leading you to the supreme goal of Self-Realization. --- May God enlighten your path

How to Dissociate From Body-Consciousness?

In order to overcome the confusion between the narrow lower self and the Real Self, in the state of meditation visualize that you and your body are two separate entities and you are using your body as your garment or a tool. Try to understand your body as you consider your garments. Visualize that your "I" would continue to exist even after the body has been discarded. Conceptually leaving the body, look at it from a higher level. Look at the body as though it were a hollow nest, in which you live and could easily come out of it. Consider yourself as the caretaker of this house, who is responsible for its sanitation (keeping it pure in thoughts and deeds), strength (keeping it strong) and functionality (physical activity). You are the master of the body and are using it as per your own free will. In this way, conceive: "I" am not this body. It is only My tool. "I" am using it only as a rest house. This body is built up with five basic elements of nature collected by "ME" (my real self) for giving it a desired appearance. (Scriptures tell that soul acquires a body and environment conforming to the traits brought forward from previous births i. e. the inherent traits from previous births are the building blocks of the mind and body of the new born.) During meditation, totally forget about your body and concentrate your thoughts and emotions on "I" as an independent conscious entity. Then you will become aware that the soul has an immortal existence independent of the body. Having had this awareness, whenever you will say "I", this expression will have an altogether a new meaning for you.
(However, it does not mean that you are required to ignore your body. Doing so will be disastrous. Considering body as the temple of soul it is your solemn duty to protect it in every way and keep it healthy and strong).

Paranormal visions and experiences
In the initial stages of Sadhana, the foregoing practice of dissociation from body-consciousness remains an entertaining and relaxing exercise, but as this imagery begins to take roods, the practitioner may feel as though he had actually died and may have such visions which one has at the time of death. There may be flashes of paranormal visions of those things, which are not physically visible at the place of meditation through normal sight. Hazy images of the extra-sensory world (sookshma Jagat) may be seen. Many other-worldly forms and heavenly scenes may appear. It may frighten the beginners, though there is nothing to be afraid of. Sometimes acceleration in the process of Sadhana, because of virtuous traits brought forward from the previous births and latent memories stored in the deeper levels of consciousness (also from previous births) become suddenly activated. This acceleration uplifts the mind to higher dimensions of awareness. With the passage of time, the Sadhak gradually becomes accustomed to paranormal experiences and such occurrences no more surprise of frighten him. With steady progress, the seeker acquires the capability to dissociate the soul from the body at will which, rising beyond the body, becomes aware of phenomena beyond physical sense perception. In this state, however, the soul of the practitioner does not actually leave the body but, like a person sticking out his neck out of a window to look outside and then withdrawing it at will, is able to transcend the limits of the body, without serving connection with it.
The beginners are advised not to be in a hurry to have occult and paranormal visions and experiences. It would tantamount to violating the natural process of gradual spiritual advancement. In due course, worthy seekers will be initiated into the technique of accessing the domains of paranormal visions (Paroksha Darshan). Here a passing reference to such experiences is considered necessary, so that when such visions do appear the Sadhak does not get frightened or nervous.

Give Five Gems in Heritage to the Children

Orderliness peace and progress of a society depends on its citizens. The character of the citizens depends on their upbringing and character - formation during their childhood. The upbringing of children cannot be done properly until the parents obtain the proper knowledge about it. To have children is not a matter of good fortune. Only when they become knowledgeable and worthy, then it is a matter of good fortune. Parents leave behind a legacy of wealth, fields, agriculture, gold and silver, money, trade etc for their children. It helps somewhat in carrying on their life, but all these things are irrelevant from the point of view of development of character. When the character is of a low level and the person is in the grip of laziness and procrastination, the heir wastes away the wealth or otherwise Lakshmi (the Goddess of wealth) leaves his abode because she finds him ignorant and disorganized. He can never have peace of mind in his life. Those who want their children to be really happy and their futures bright, it will be proper for them to imbue their children with good qualities. This bestowing of good qualities is possible only for those who themselves have something of their own. Only the rich can leave behind money for their children but only a virtuous person can leave a legacy of developed character for his children.
Children's understanding is undeveloped, they are not able to understand lectures properly but their power of imitation is very strong. They easily learn whatever they see and immediately imitate it.
1. The lesson of toil: If we wish that our children do not become lazy and do not shirk work, then we must put before them the example of toil and involvement in work and just like us, prepare a time-table for them to be involved in some work.
2. Generosity is another virtue. Children usually fight with their brothers and sisters. They indulge in quarrels and grabbing and snatching for items of food and drink, toys or some other things. This habit should never be encouraged, instead they must be taught to share sweets etc with their brothers and sisters and then eat. Nobody can destroy peace and love when there is a policy of forget and forgive, remembering one's duty and forgetting one's right. Generosity is the biggest guarantee for peace in the family
3. Cleanliness and simplicity: Cleanliness is the third virtue. One's things should not be out of place. Clothes, shoes, vessels, books, pen etc are normally thrown here and there by children who immediately forget, and go about their work. They must be taught that only after completing one work another work should be undertaken and untidiness should be despised.
4. Good use of time: Working by a time-table in daily life is an important quality for putting human-life to good use. Most people do not understand the value of time. Enterprise is the other name for the good use of time.
5. Courtesy and gentlemanliness: Politeness, gentlemanliness, courteous conduct, pleasant speech, goodness - these are the qualities by which other people get attracted to us, have compassion for us, become our admirers and become cheerful in our company. The quality of making others our own lies only in honesty and goodness in dealing or conduct with others. In the school that is family, the practice of goodness, gentlemanliness and pleasantness must be taught to the children from childhood only. The elders in the family when talking to the juniors should address them with respect.

Getting Past the Subconscious Mind

So you have stilled your senses and gone beyond your conscious mind into the subconscious. Now what is happening inside your mind?
Everything. Visions, pictures, memories, plans, anxieties. They are flooding your mind in a torrent. You remember everything you did during the day and plan everything you will tomorrow. Your regret auguring with your friend and losing your temper a your mother. You worry about the children, or you wonder when you will get married, and to whom. You picture the new car you wish you had. You plan what you are going to eat as soon as you finish meditation, and you imagine, yourself eating it. You write a letter in your mind. You make your shopping list for tomorrow. You analyze your character and praise your own virtues, and analyze the people you know and criticize their faults.
Then you start to wonder, "What good is this meditation anyway? I'm supposed to get mental peace, but I am thinking more than over before!" Your mind is rattling and churning, and ideas are flying everywhere like popcom popping from the pot when the lid is suddenly removed. The internal activity of the subconscious mind is usually repressed by the intense activity of the conscious mind, which is outwardly directed into the external world, (only people like artists, poets and day-dreamers' are accustomed to giving their subconscious minds full rein). So when the conscious repression is suddenly released, as in dreaming, the subconscious mind bursts into activity and there you are, sitting there with your head clattering with images and thoughts.
This is why many people find it difficult to perform certain types of meditation that seek merely to "empty the mind" or to " think of nothings/" It is impossible to think of nothing. The mind must always have some object. Even if you think that you are thinking of nothing, you are actually thinking, "Aha! I am finally thinking about nothing!"
Let us make an experiment: please close your eyes for thirty seconds and think about anything you like, except a RED COW.
You just couldn't help it, could you? That big red cow kept coming back into your mind, whatever you tried to do to get rid of it.
And if you tell your mind to think about nothing, it will vengefully erupt in an avalanche of thoughts and feelings.
There must be a better way. And there is. It has been tried and tented for thousands of years - the most efficient and practical process to pierce through the disturbances of th subconscious mind and enter the blissful, super-conscious state. It is called MANTRA - "that which liberated the mind."

Gayatri Upanishad

Brahman Granths are offshoots of Vedas. Each Veda had several Brahman Granths but only a few are now available. With the passage of time most of them have disappeared.
Two Brahmans of Rig-Veda viz. Shankhayan and Etreya are available. Shankhayan is also known as Koupeetki.
Similarly, there are three Brahman granths of Yajur-veda also, ie. Shatpath, Kanva and Tettareeya, eleven Brahman of Sam-Veda viz. Aarsheya, Jaiminiarsheya, Sanhitopnishad, Mantra, Vansh, Samvidhan, Shadvinsha, Devat, Tandya, Jaiminya, Jaiminiya Upanishad Brahman and only one of Atharva-veda which is known as Gopath Brahman. Parse 31 to38 of Gopath Brahman are known as Gayatri Upanishad in which the important secret of Gayatri has been explained in the episode of discussion between Maitereya and Moudgalya. According to its literal meaning Gayatri is a prayer for illumination and uplifting of the intellect. But, in this Upanishad several secrets relating to Brahma-vidya (divine knowledge) and Padarth vidya (material knowledge) have been revealed.
Gayatri Upanishad starts with a narration in which Maitreya, who was a great scholar and delivered discourses on the three Vedas, had ridiculed Moudgalya by saying that he did not teach anything substantial to his disciples he enquired from Maitreya what he knew about the secret of gayatri. Maitreya could not give and reply.
Maitreya had very well understood the intention of Moudglya. When he pondered over the matter deeply he realized that he had not understood that secret of Gayatri by which the Mantra has assumed it's pre-eminence. Unless the fundamental basis was known it was no use knowing exterior symbols. He realized that it was no use delivering discourses on Vedas so long as their origin was not known. He, therefore, resolved that he would first understand the secret behind Gayatri and only then do any other work. He sent away his students and approached Moudgalya with humility and devotion befitting a true seeker and student who approached a master for initiation into sacred knowledge. Contrary to this, in modern times the students are most impertinent and disrespectful and all their education goes waste for want of proper discipline and blessings of the teachers.
Maitreya asked Moudgalya the secret underlying the first part of Gayatri and asked three questions. His first question was, What is Varenya of Savita, which means how that luminous God can be obtained. Secondly, what is the Bharga of that Dev. Thirdly, what is that medium by which God gives inspiration to all or by which the grace of God is attained?
Moudgalya replied (1) Veda and Chand are Varenyam of Savita. (2) Anna (food-grain) is known as Bharga of Dev, and (3) Karma (action) is that dhee element by which God gives inspiration to all, develops all. Let us now ponder over these three questions and their answers, one by one.
1. Veda meand knowledge and Chand implies experience. In fact, God is realized by the knowledge of self. But the knowledge implied here is not mere surface knowledge. A man may read countless books like a donkey loaded with a heavy weight, he may deliver discourses like a parrot but all this does not add up to true knowledge. Our knowledge of truth should be based on self-experience. A man should have intrinsic faith in truth when once it has been established on the basis of reasoning, logic, proof and example. This faith should be reflected in our day to day conduct. It should first be determined with open-mindedness, truthfulness and impartiality which principles are appropriate, propitious and beneficial for the overall wellbeing. Once it is agreed that virtues like truth benevolence self-restraint, honesty etc. are the highest from every point of view, they should be put into practice. When true knowledge ripens and gets deeply rooted in devotion it leads to self-realization. Knowledge without experience is effete. Experience does not stand on sound footing without knowing the principles. When man's true knowledge culminates into faith, when he gets rid of vanity, deception, malice, hypocrisy, cunningness and conceit and when single-pointed faith and devotion reign supreme in one's psyche, God can be instantly realized. Thus, Savita has been described as combination, coordination, of Veda (knowledge) and Chand (experience). In short God can be realized through knowledge and experience combined together.
2. Replying to the second question Moudgalya said that Bharga of Dev is Anna. Material resources are the strength of a superior person. Superiority or excellence can be strengthened only when anna (food) or material resources are available. Material resources and wealth constitute a power which, if it goes in the hands of the Asuras (demons) increase devilish tendencies and if it goes in the hands of Devata (godly person) promotes godliness. If power to govern a country lies in the hands of cruel and wicked persons they would spread viciousness. The extent to which Nepal has been ruined due to foreign rule in the past centuries is well-known. If this political power is handled by good, righteous people, the country can make exemplary progress, as has been done in countries like Russia, America etc. In his book on Geeta, Yogi Aurobindo has written that "peace and happiness will prevail in the world if Lakshyami (material prosperity) is possessed by virtuous persons. The world is bound to suffer calamity if Lakshyami goes in the hands of demons. "God-like persons need material resources, wealth, not for sensual enjoyment, greed, hoarding, vanity or doing injustice to other, but for defending and promoting godliness, so that the people may be able to make themselves strong, active and resourceful. Anna (food) or material resources have been regarded as the symbol of Lakshyami. Thus, Moudgalya replied that Bharga of Dev is Anna, the worldly s trength of good persons lies in material resources. Without material resources they will remain weak in the physical field.
3. The third reply of Moudgalya is that action (Karma) alone is dhee element by which God inspires and uplifts all. This is absolutely true that everyone is uplifted and evolved through God's grace. God inspires everybody towards higher levels of evolution, towards progress. It should, however, be understood that inspiration is 'dhee'. Dhee means that intellect which gives inspiration and incentive to do God like deeds. A person who is favored by the grace of God is endowed with wisdom accordingly. Whether a person enjoys blessings of 'dhee' or not can be judged by examining whether he is industrious and diligent and does his work enthusiastically. A person endowed with such a nature should be considered to have been blessed with dhee element by God.
Several persons are habitually indolent, dull and apathetic. They do work half-heartedly without any enthusiasm. A little exertion makes them tired. Such person's would be considered to be devoid of dhee element. Obviously, they are doomed to remain unlucky in the absence of enlightened intellect which inspires men to utilize their energies in worthwhile pursuits.
There can be no two opinions that Moudgalya's aforesaid teaching is true. Those who blame one's luck and think that what is destined cannot be averted may feel satisfied by accusing others for their misfortunes but the fact is that they have been deprived of God's grace through his own indolence. This grace of God is available to all and is within everybody's reach. By adopting dhee, which also means purposeful industriousness, everybody can become entitled to get divine grace and achieve progress. God never deprives anyone of His grace. It is man himself who foolishly turns his face against it.
The last question which Maitreya asked was, what is Savita, what is Savitri? Savita has been regarded as devta (God) of Gayatri. Every Mantra has its own devta which denoted as to what is the subject of that Mantra. As Savita is devta of Gayatri it is apparent that the prime devta of this Mantra. It is for this reason that Gayatri is also known as Savitri.
Moudgalya replied that Savita and Savitri are inseparable. They are, in fact, one. They combine and form a pair. One is the Transcendent Source and the other its Creative Energy. Both complement each other.
The importance of Shakti Marg lies in the tapping of this power. Every atom is instinct with infinite power. The explosion of one atom may result in the destruction of the whole cosmos. But this happens when that supreme energy is properly released. The transcendental, luminous Almighty God is known as Savita and its Shakti (power) is known as Savitri. Savitri is not different from Savita but complements it. They constitute one integrated pair. God is incomprehensible, unknowable, formless and transcendent. It is only through its creative energy; Savitri that inkling can be had of this absolute Divine.
This is a matter which can be understood only by deep and serious reflection. It is for this reason that the authors of Upanishad have tried to fathom this mystery by giving various examples, to make it easily intelligible to the people.
They say that mind is Savita, speech is Savitri. Where there is mind, there is speech and where there is speech there is mind. In the same way fire and earth, air and space, sun and moon and stars, electricity and lightening, Pran (vital energy) and Anna (food), Veda and Chand, Yagya and dakshina, day and night, hot and cold, fire and water (varoon) have been stated to be Savita and Savitri constituting one pair each. These are only a few examples. By giving these examples, the authors of Upanishad have sought to suggest that supreme Divinity cannot manifest by itself alone, so long as it remains in its Absolute Existence. It manifests only when there is a stirring of its Shakti (manifesting energy). Thus, absolute Savita manifests to man only through invocation of Savitri.
Lakshyami-Narayan, Sita-Rama, Radha-Krishna, Uma-Shankar, Savita-Savitri, nature and God, all these pairs indicate that each one of them complements the other and is the cause for the manifestation of the other. Jeev (soul) also, which is imperceptible, manifests itself on account of Maya (power of God). Human development also cannot be one-sided. Integrated human development and evolution is possible by awakening the dormant Divine Energy within.
Energy and the source of Energy both are inter-related. Just as Savita can be experienced only through the grace of Savitri, we should also awaken in ourselves, through collective Sadhana, all these marvelous energies of the Divine Mother. Our Sadhana has to be a collective effort of kindred souls.
Maitreya told Moudgalya that he had become his disciple; he had acquired real knowledge and secret of inter-relation between power and its source. He further told that whosoever will come to know about the secret of this knowledge will not be subject to mortality. Such a person will regard power as an inseparable part of his soul, he will never misuse it. He must utilize it for the greatest goal.

Gayatri - The Deity of Bright Prosperity

Apart from harvesting virtuous potentials, inner peace and content and thus enlightening the personal life, Gayatri Sadhana enables prosperous growth of the devotee's social life too. The refinement of body and mind (educed by Gayatri) also adorns the external fronts of life with several boons. Because of his increased awareness and wisdom and prudent self-confidence, the Sadhak finds the same circumstances, the same obstacles as supporting and easily resolvable, which were adverse and challenging earlier.
Changing the circumstances of life at will may not be feasible for every one every time. However, changing one's approach and attitude to face the circumstances positively - is a natural sign of farsighted wisdom, Clash of one's imaginations, expectations and the facts of life is the major cause of distress and struggle in varied forms. Wise men always accept the reality with grace and avoid unnecessary troubles, tussles and tensions as far as possible. This prudence is aroused in the Sadhak of Gayatri and makes the movement of his life straight and smooth.
Happiness and delight are not generated by external means or materialistic possessions. These are indeed the relative reflections of one's own mental status and attitude. The mind, which was not satisfied even by royal accessories, luxuries and power and was thirsty for more and more, the same mind may sometime be inspired by a saintly preaching or inner voice to renounce every thing and begin to feel terrific bless and comfort in sleeping on the earth in a forest, eating raw fruits and roots. This drastic change is simply a consequent of different emotional conditioning and attitude that hold the key to all sorrow and joys.
The Triveni of Gayatri also purifies the trigunas - the three eternal tendencies immanent in Nature. It exalts the Satoguna and thereby induces spiritual illumination. It excels the force of Rajoguna, which awakens the hidden potentials and brightens prosperous progress of life in the physical domains too. Elevated optimism, zeal, sagacity, presence of mind, efficient decision making, beatified voice, graceful personality and many other familiar and rare faculties are evidential manifestation of this effect. The refined Tamoguna educes valor, fearlessness, endurance, chastity and courage to fight against injustice and exploitation, etc and enables the Sadhak march on the altruist path of social welfare.
With gradual progress of his dedicated Sadhana, the devotee of Gayatri subliminally undergoes a marvelous transmutation that consistently fosters the glory and growth of his prosperous and illumined life. Gayatri does not encoder golden coins or nectar; neither does it bestow boons in a magical way. But, it certainly arouses and inspires such physical, mental and spiritual potentials and talents so that under no circumstances a devotee of Gayatri faces any scarcity, fear or suffering. It is indeed a unique source of righteous progress and everlasting glory and prosperity.

Gayatri is Omnipotent Savior
Destiny does bring testing moments in one form or the other sometimes in everybody's life. The stormy winds of the Prarabdha of the sinful Karmas often appear to blow the eddy currents of crisis and ill omen. The attacks of diseases, disputes, monetary losses, threats, tragedies etc seem to compete with each other in augmenting the severity of the bad times. It is said that hardship does not come alone. It brings its children and friends along. Entrapped in the web of misfortunes from all directions, most of us would feel helpless, frightened, depressed and almost dead. Fear, anxiety and agony often suppress our courage and further multiply the strokes of the crisis.
The case of a true devotee of Gayatri is quite different. Destiny appears to favor him in all circumstances. Testing times seem to further sharpen his endurance, forbearance, courage, wisdom and faith in God. He is protected by these virtues that are firmly sown in him by the grace of Gayatri. The inspirations and inner strength blessed by the divine mother Gayatri are like savior boats that enable the Sadhak cross the cyclonic currents of adversities and crisis of all kinds.
Gayatri Sadhana bestows sublime protection, which often appears astonishing. Many a times the devotee is miraculously saved and emancipated from dreaded dangers and crisis. The divine powers aroused in his inner self by Gayatri Sadhana provide angelic support to the devotee. It is experienced that those who control and purify their mind and intellect by Sadhana, who eliminate their jealousy, ego, fury and all beastly tendencies, and cultivate altruist and generous sentiments are always blessed and guarded by thy savior Gayatri Shakti.

Gayatri Sadhana in Nava Durga

Although, winter, summer and rains have been described to be three seasons, strictly speaking there are only two seasons, namely winter and summer. The period of conjunction when one season ends and the other starts is known as Nava Durga.
The time when day and night meet is known as morning or evening twilight (Sandhaya-kal) and this is considered to be an important period. Taking of food, sleeping, indulging in sex, commencing journey and similar other works are, forbidden at the time of sunrise and sunset. This time has to be utilized in meditation, worship, Sadhana etc. for which it is best suited and yields wonderful results with minimum effort. The meeting period of summer and winter is an auspicious period like morning and evening twilight. As the story goes in Purans, seasons become menstruation during these nine days of Nava-Durga. Just as all precautions are taken in respect of food, rest, behavior etc. during the period of menstruation, similarly, precautions have to be taken during these periods of Nava-Durga.
Physician know it well that there is great impact on the body due to change in seasons in the month of Ashwin and Chaitra and several persons catch fever, influenza, small-pox, diarrhea, dejection etc. The hospitals remain flooded with patients these days. Vaidyas who deal in Ayurvedic medicine and naturopathy consider this period of Ashwin and Chaitra most suitable for stimulating vomiting, purgation, perspiration and similar other acts for purification of the body. Both Nava-Durgas are followed by important festivals of Dashaehra and Ramnawami. Goddess Durga manifested herself at the end of Ashwin Nava-Durga. Bhagwan Ram incarnated at the end of Chaitra Nava-Durga.
Apparently this period of change of season appears to be harmful because most of the people suffer from one ailment or the other. But in fact this is not so. The immune system of the body tries to set right all defects and diseases which develop on account of transgressions committed during the previous six months in food and daily routine. The process of self-purification manifests itself in the form of cough, cold, fever e tc. I f the body gets an opportunity to cleanse itself by observing fast and taking limited balanced diet and the mind remains engrossed in Jap and worship, physical and mental impurities can be easily thrown out and health fully restored. This small Anusthan of Gayatri is, therefore, extremely useful from health point of view also.
Nava-Durga falls in Shukla Paksha from pratipada to navami in Ashwin and Chaitra. This is the time best suited for Gayatri Sadhana. Jap of twenty-four thousand Mantras should be performed and fast should be observed during these days. This mini Sadhana is as useful as a big Anusthan.
Food consisting of cereals at one time and milk and fruits or milk or fruits should be taken at the other time. Those who can afford to remain on the diet of fruits and milk or milk along can do so if their health permits. The Sadhak should get up early and sit for Sadhana in the small hours of the morning (Brahma-Muhurta) after finishing daily routine like bath etc. in the manner already prescribed. Twenty-four thousand Japas are to be performed in nine days. This can be done by performing Jap of 27 rosaries daily, which would take three to four hours. If it appears to be strenuous to complete Jap in one sitting, a major portion of it should be finished in the morning and balance in the evening. Havan or Yagya of 108 Mantras should be performed on the last day. Offering of money in charity and feeding of Brahmans should also be done as mentioned earlier.
This small Anusthan of nine days should be performed by the Sadhak himself in both the Nava-Durgas every year. If for some reason it is not possible for a person to do it himself, it can be got accomplished by some competent capable Brahman, Sadhana done during these days proves to be extremely useful for getting rid of anxieties, fulfilling desires and developing spiritual power.
This small Anusthan can also be done at any time besides Nava-Durga. Anusthan of 1, 25,000 Jap in forty days is a complete Anusthan and the smaller one of nine days is its one fifth parts, which should be done according to convenience and need. The wealth of Tap, devout austerity, should be amassed in as large a measure as may be possible.

Gayatri Philosophy, the basis for the transformation of the era

The great power necessary for the total uprooting and expelling of the undesirable beliefs and in their place to establish enlightened thinking, good thoughts, good deeds and humane sentiments, has manifested in this era in the form of Gayatri. The task of the incarnations in the past ages was comparatively easy because they had to fight individuals, but in this era when wickedness has taken dominance over men's minds and beliefs, that bright and profound power was required which can do the work by going into the depths of human sentiments.
To wash away the poison of immorality, dishonesty, lack of character, desires, avarice and mean arrogance which has spread in the society, widespread revolution will have to be created of Yagya (prayers over the holy fire) Gayatir's prayer and studies. This is the basic aim of the manifestation of 'Yug-Shakti Gayatri' (this era's spiritual power of Gayatri) and the alert souls must consider it their duty to fulfill this aim.
Gayatri worship has the outstanding power of replacing untruth with truth, darkness with light and ignorance with knowledge. Not only does it benefit the individual worshipper, but by collective worship of Gayatri, the entire society, nation and the era are influenced. No one can deny this solid truth.
Ordinarily Gayatri-mantra is looked upon as a prayer in routine worship, in which the Supreme has been requested to grant Sadbuddhi (good intelligence) but people knowledgeable about the power of the word know that the 24 letters of this great mantra are seeds of 24 great powers which are capable of creating an upheaval in the entire universe. People have faith in Gayatri because they are familiar with it. Gayatri worship has been giving power and strength to the people of this country from time immemorial, and for this era it is like "Sanjeevani Booti" (resuscitating miraculous herb). Therefore its manifestation must be vigorously welcomed. If once the atmosphere is purified (with Gayatri Mantra's vibrations) then the nation and the world will automatically get the dynamism of restrained, healthy and capable divine sentiments. This responsibility lies on those alert souls whose discretionary intelligence is capable of understanding a situation and who have the determination to fight traditions and orthodoxy. Once a person is released from that prison, then the all- powerful Mother goes on showering her blessings. All the elements that go to make the country prosperous, happy and progressive are all present in Gayatri. The only necessity is to carry the message to every person in each and every home and vigorously inspire people to come into contact with this great power. That itself is to be done these days.
A part of this special knowledge is present in crippled form. Its aspect of special knowledge is very very powerful and capable. This manifestation of Gayatri will be successful and meaningful if the light of this knowledge is taken to every home and the atmosphere all over the world make Gayatrimaya (immersed in the vibrations of Gayatri mantra). Then the energy will evolve which will be capable of keeping this country and the world clean, healthy and capable for a long long time. Every person in close proximity with Gayatri-power should consider it his virtuous duty to commit himself whole-heartedly to spread the knowledge of Gayatri mantra to others. If this is done, then the manifestation of this great power will certainly be successful and meaningful.

Gayatri Anusthan

Inexhaustible Source of Spiritual Energy
The scriptures prescribed that Gayatri should be worshipped thrice daily during "Trikal Sandhaya" in the morning at noon and in the evening. It is all the more beneficial in Jap, worship, meditation and contemplation of Gayatri is done even more intensively. But for specific purposes, when more energy is required to be generated, specific performance which is known as Anusthan is done. When long journey is proposed to be undertaken, special food and adequate money are kept for being used in transit. Anusthan similarly is like journey expenses. When this energy capital is accumulated, Sadhak's journey through life, whether in mundane or spiritual pursuit, becomes easier and smoother.
When a tiger pounces upon a deer or a cat attacks a mouse or a heron attacks a fish, they pause for a moment, stop breathing move back a little, and sharpen all their inner faculties and then charge suddenly on they prey. An athlete in high or long jump, stops for a moment, moves back a little and then leaps up or forward. A wrestler also takes a counter-move and suddenly changes his strategy. A marksman has also to do the same thing before shooting. In Anusthan, same thing has to be done on spiritual level. If any calamity has to be averted or some success achieved it is done by performance of Anusthan.
The baby cries 'ma-ma' and loving conversation between him and his mother goes on throughout the day, but when due to some emergency the child cries loudly and bitterly his mother abandons all work rushes and attends to the child. Anusthan is such an emergency call of Sadhak which has specific force and magnetism in it. The Sadhak, thereby, attracts within him, the extraordinary energy of Gayatri. When human Endeavour fails, there is no way out to avert a crisis. Darkness prevails all-around, the future appears grimly dark, and circumstances become menacingly adverse. In such a plight, it is but natural to become nervous. The intellect of such a worried and dejected person does not work properly. A pigeon caught in a net is entrapped more and more when it flutters to get out of it. On such occasion, the name of God is the only strength. Draupadi, Narsi, Prahlad etc. had to call upon Divine help in a state of utter helplessness. When human efforts fail, the entire situation is changed by divine intervention. The intense dark night of calamity suddenly disappears with out-break of Light and a person is able to see the right path. Anusthan erupts in the heart in the form of light which enlightens the path.
Extraordinary relief is obtained by Gayatri Anusthan in worldly difficulties, mental disturbance and internal restlessness. No doubt, Gayatri does not literally give the Sadhak a golden treasure. But it is also true that by its influence fundamental positive changes take place in human attitude and mentality which make it possible to find appropriate solutions to difficulties. An appropriate intelligence, wisdom and far-sightedness are intuitively revealed to the Sadhak to enable him to surmount the special difficulties and challenges faced by him. Some irrelevant way ward thoughts, desires and craving overpower a person having a confused mind on account of which he remains unhappy for no reason. Gayatri Sadhana cleanses the mind in such a way that things which formerly appeared to be crucially important appear to be insubstantial and trivial. Such internal changes take place by Anusthan on account of which an unhappy, worried and harassed person suddenly finds himself uplifted into a state of peace, harmony and joy.
Jap of 1, 25,000 Mantras is known as Anusthan. There a re certain conditions for a thing to attain maturity. Pulse, vegetables, bricks, glass etc. required to be heated up to a particular temperature. Fruits take their own time to ripen. Eggs need specific time for hatching. A baby takes its due time in mother's womb before birth. Premature action in all such matters results in complications and failure. In Anusthan, performance of Jap of 1,25,000 Mantras in the prescribed period culminates in desired fulfillment.

Gayatri and Yagya1

This ancient tradition of Yagya incorporates the principles of theoretical knowledge and applied science and contains in it all the elements of material elements in seed form. It is a sacred process conducive to the welfare and happiness of the individual as well as the society.
The meaning or purport of the word Yagya is an act or celebration of self-giving which aims at the highest universal good, an act which is generous, magnificent, noble and magnanimous. Yagya is a Sanskrit word which has three meanings; divinity, organization and charity. These three virtues can be said to be triple divine currents of individual and social transformation. Divinity means refined personality, divine virtues. Organization implies unity, cooperation team-spirit. Charity implies generous sharing, devotion to society, and considering the entire universe as one's own family. All these three tendencies are thus combined in Yagya and it can be said to be the flaming torch of knowledge. It inspires man to translate higher sentiments and motives into righteous deeds. Coordination of knowledge and action created the ground for making progress. Righteous deeds, which is known as tap, and true knowledge, which is known as Yoga, are the basis of spiritual progress.
The philosophy underlying Jeevan (life) - Yagya is to make a man great by adopting the philosophy of self-sacrifice. It has been stated in the Geeta that a man who eats without giving to others is a thief, he commits sin. A man should eat the leftover of Yagya.
According to Geeta 3/31 Devtas (divine beings) attain divinity only by Yagya. This is nothing but propounding the fact that in individual life man should not be selfish or self-centered and in his actions and behavior, he should demonstrate sincere devotion for the welfare and upliftment of the society. This is a highway leading to all-round happiness, progress, peace and tranquility of the individual as well as society.
There is no other religious medium as powerful as Yagya to educate the public mind by explaining the subtle implications of sacrifice, generosity and benevolence for purifying the individual and making the society capable and competent. According to Rig-Veda, the fire of Yagya, although speechless, acts as Purohit (spiritual priest) and inspires people in achieving all-round progress, happiness and peace. If the philosophy of Yagya is fully understood and assimilated in practical life circumstances can be created for the emergence of divinity in man and descent of heaven on the earth. These ideals have to be lived for changing the present era and building a bright future.
It is said that Devtas performed Yagya and attained divinity. Emergence of Brahman elements in man is possible only by Yagya. Otherwise, devoid of it, man is no better than an animal. Performance of Yagya has been said to be the main function of a Brahman. The essence of Yagya is common good, universal peace and happiness. The chariot of human life runs smoothly so long as different parts of the body work in cooperation with each other. Every thing will be topsy-turvy if selfishness or non-cooperation pre-dominates in social life. Take, for instance, the example of the cycle of water. Clouds get water from the sea, earth gets water from the clouds, rivers get water from the earth, and sea gets it from the rivers and thus there is growth of vegetation and greenery everywhere and the thirst of all living beings is quenched. If there is any interruption anywhere in this cycle of unhindered giving or sacrifice this earth will become like a hot iron plate. Similarly, living beings thrive on different vegetations which get their nourishment nad diet from urine and feces (excrements) of the former. Living beings inhale oxygen emitted by the trees and the latter thrive on carbon-di-oxide exhaled by the former. There is also a similar mutual give and take between human beings and animals. This is the philosophy of Yagya, of give and take, around which the entire universe revolves.

Gayatri and Yagya

Gayatri and Yagya form an inseparable pair. One is said to be the mother and the other, the father of Nepali Dharma. They are interdependent. Gayatri anusthan cannot be considered fully accomplished unless it is accompanied by Yagya. In old affluent time's agnihotra used to be performed of one-tenth of the quantum of Jap, but now in view of the prevailing circumstances ahutis are given in one to hundred ratios. Those lacking in requisite resources fulfill the requirement of Yagya by performing one tenth additional Jap.
There is reference in the scriptures to a famous dialogue between Janak and Yagyavalkya. janak went on pointing out difficulties in performing Yagya and Yagyavalkya, while emphasizing the essentiality of performing Yagya, suggested alternatives, one after another. Yagyavalkya said if Charu and other articles of Yagya are not available, food grains of daily consumption can be offered in Havan. If food grains are not available one can make do with herbs and vegetation. If they are also not available, mental Yagya can be performed by offering meditation and prayers in the symbolic fire of reverence and devotion. It has thus been emphasized that not only in Anusthan, but even in daily Sadhana, Yagya is essential along with Gayatri Jap.
In emergency, house-wives used to utter Gayatri Mantra and offer five morsels of first chapatti in the hearth. The daily routine of bali-Vaishya is nothing but a short form of Havan. The purpose of symbolic worship of Agnihotra can also be fulfilled by uttering Gayatri Mantra and offering ghee and sugar in the fire or lighting a ghrit lamp and burning incense-sticks. The celebration of Holi is nothing but a form of collective Yagya performed once in every year. Yagya is an essential part of every auspicious religious celebration, whether it be in the form of offering Ahutis in sacrificial fire (Yagya-Kunda) or burning candle-sticks, incense sticks or ghrit-lamp.
Our ancient scriptures describe one of the names of God as Yagya-Purush. In Shatpath, Yagya has been described as Vishnu, "Yagyovai Vishnu". In the beginning of Rig-Veda, Yagya has been described as Purohit (priest or religious guide). The importance of the fire of the Yagya has been stressed in all Vedic literature. In "Agne naya supatha raye…." an ardent prayer is made to Almighty God to lead us on righteous path as contained in the words "dhiyo yonah prachodayat" of Gayatri Mantra.
Yagya is essentially linked with all traditional religious functions. None of the essential sixteen purificatory rites (shodash-Sanskar) right from child birth till death can be celebrated without performance of Yagya. The ceremony of Yagyopaveet is intrinsically linked with Yagya. It combines the ideology and philosophy of Gayatri with the performance of Yagya. In marriage ceremony it is essential for the bride and the groom to perform Yagya and take seven rounds of the fire of Yagya. Circumambulation of the sacrificial fire alone is the visible proof of solemnization of a Hindu marriage. The last rite in the series of sixteen rites is the funeral rite, in which the dead body is put on funeral pyre, set fire to and kapal-kriya piercing of the skull is performed with ghee by way of Purnahuti.

Not only does the exercise of visualization elevate the status of the soul above the body, it further creates an awareness that the former is beyond the reach even of those five primary elements (Panch Mahabhoot), which constrain its (body's) activities and existence. The embodied Being thus becomes aware that, besides having far greater potentialities than the body, the soul also transcends all five primary elements, which constitute the physiology of all animate forms. On entering into this state of transcendental consciousness, one feels as though one has had a rebirth. There is a perception of revitalization with a supernormal inrush of energy. At this stage the Sadhak feels freed from the fears of disease, decay and even death. Nothing, not even the most tragic of events, can frighten him any more.
(According to psychology, fear is only a distress signal of and impending danger to the "body". Thus, fear is exclusively a phenomenon concerning the body. In the supernatural soul, there is nothing subject to harm. Hence the question of fear does not arise).

Identification of "I" as soul is the key to unalloyed and eternal bliss
Remind yourself repeatedly that the key Mantra of Sadhana towards Self-Realization is identification of "I" is generally referred to. Only after developing full conviction of this Truth, can the seeker progress on the path of Self-Realization. The seeker will have to develop a perception that the Inner-Self has an immortal existence of its own, independent of the mortal body and that the soul is an effulgent Star around which life and events related to the seeker's world are revolving like planets around the Sun. Such a perception will fill the seeker with a higher order of vitality and vibrancy, which will also be reflected in reactions and activities of the people around him. In addition, the Sadhak will develop an inner unshakable poise and peace which cannot be disturbed by the trials, tribulations, tests and storms of the world. With progress in Self-Evolution (Atma Vikash) (i.e. with enlargement of concept "I" to include all beings), the seeker will acquire such a capability, an enlightened person (Atma Gyan) continues to be steadfastly calm in moments of great calamities in life. Waiving his hand he bids farewell to worldly problems saying, "Good Bye! Go away! Go and get lost in that darkness of illusion which had created you." Blessed is one who has mastered the key Mantra of immortality of his "I-ness" - one with the Supreme Source. Seekers! Now start putting into practice with faith and enthusiasm, the primary lesson towards Self-Realization. If your progress is slow, be not over-anxious for quick results. While moving forward, if sometimes you slip backwards, do not be disappointed. Later you will make up for the loss. If you are serious, sincere, single-pointed and steadfast, you are sure to be crowned with ultimate success - Self-Realization. Remember: A journey of hundred miles begins with a step.

Affirmations of this article:
"I" am the powerhouse of talents and energy.
"I" am the inexhaustible source of divine thought and visions.
My world (people, events and things related to my person) are revolving around (working under the influence of) "ME" i.e. My Inner-Self, a spark of the Divine Effulgence)
"I" have an immortal self-identity of my own - independent of this mortal body.
"I" am indestructible.
"I" am indivisible. None can harm "ME"

Formation of the Society

For an individual to be happy, a developed society is essential. This developed society does not automatically get formed. It has to develop a group of good leaders. When the number of better men reduces and the creative efforts of maintaining excellence in the society become lax, then the level of the society comes down and when this happens then people in that phase of time also become fallen and weak and helpless. A good society created good individuals who in turn create a good society. Both are mutually dependent.
If the society is full of immoral, undesirable and criminal elements, then their activities will not allow the goodness, the excellence of any saint and gentleman to be unaffected. A perverted society creates unlimited perversities and innumerable types of conflicts. And no ethical person can remain untouched by the effects of these perversities and conflicts. He will become a victim of direct and indirect attacks. In a society full of bad social customs and traditions, a reformer with ordinary morale will hardly utter a word before he is swept away by the masses. The corner stone of social reformation is "Vichar Kranti" or revolution in thinking without which social reformation can not be achieved. Without Gyan Yagya ( a campaign for the spread of knowledge) we cannot usher in an era with the possibilities of peace, happiness and progress everywhere.
Man has become highly selfish and individualistic. What should be our contribution to people's welfare and social uplift? In a way this matter has been forgotten. Spiritualism is trapped in trying to achieve miracles, going to heaven, liberation and fulfillment of desires. Nobody now remembers that spiritualism is in fact for people's welfare. For social reformation we will have to become crusading soldiers on the fronts of organization, propaganda, creativity for resurgence of goodness and struggle. For this man must make maximum contribution of his time and means. Only such courageous men can undertake the great and extensive project of social reformation

Formation of a Family

The second step of Gyan Yagya is -formation of the family. By and large every man creates a family. Those who do not marry, they live with their parents, brothers, sisters etc. This also is their family.
A unit consisting of wife and children is not the only family. Those who have renounced the world and become saints, they also form their groups, sects, ashrams (hermitages) etc. A tradition of Guru-Shishya parampara (the Guru handing down the chief position to one of his disciples in succession) starts and a family of followers is created. If an industry is created and run with high ideals, the workers and associates become family-members. The relationship between students and teachers is in reality a family -relationship. If one develops a little more generous outlook, then this periphery crossing the bounds of country, religion etc - encompasses the whole world. A t that time the idea of "vasudhaiva Kutumbakam" (i.e. this whole world is a family) does not remain merely an imagination, but becomes a practical reality. It is a different question as to who earns how much, who is called great and whose personality is great. It is very easy to become great - but very difficult to become an excellent gentleman. Not status but greatness is required to live peacefully and to keep one's associated happy and satisfied. Maintaining greatness is the biggest achievement of human life. The worthiness of any family is in proportion to its progress in the above direction.
If undesirableness and perversities exist in the family's atmosphere, the only reason for them is the absence of an atmosphere which creates goodwill and promotes good actions. Only on creation of such favorable atmosphere will the puzzles get solved. This only is the spiritual reason for clashes within the family. Seen at a physical level other reasons can also exist for malice and quarrels and they can be tackled also, but even then when the intelligence itself has been corrupted, some reason or the other for malice and clashes will crop up and create the stench of rot. Living in such a family the individual can neither remain happy and prosperous nor can he develop the proper qualities and nature for practicing good deeds for significant progress in life. Unfortunate are those who think of money as everything and die for it. People with discretion know that there is no better joy giving material in this world than goodwill with a clean heart. Therefore they pay attention to its nurture and maintenance, even though they may have to remain financially poor.
To create a clean atmosphere and make family-members cultured is only one facet of creating a good family. The second facet of creating a good family is even more important, and that is - controlling or disciplining personal habits, beliefs and activities. This action is possible only in the laboratory that is called a family. The excellence of one's qualities, deeds and nature can be cultivated only by contacts with others. Only mental satisfaction is achieved through lonely reflection, study and lectures, but good actions become ripe only through practice. For this purpose there can be no better medium than the family. Since, we have to live with some people, to change their nature, in reality means changing one's own nature. The requirement of increase in goodness and goodwill in the family must be fulfilled. The mental horizons of the family members must be widened so that they do not become the proverbial frogs in the well i.e. narrow minded. A man many a time suffers damage and stumbles in life because of indifference or ignorance about life's and society's problems. There should be an atmosphere of belief in God and respect for God. Each member must have the habit of remembering God and bowing down to Him. It may take a minute or two, but those two minutes should be utilized.
We must understand that the family is a complete society, a complete nation. Even though its size is small, but all the problems which are faced by a society and a nation, also exist for the family. For a comprehensive development of our personality and for purifying our qualities, nature and deeds, the effort for creating an ideal family should be considered an important experiment in our life. It is a kind of service to the country, society and the whole world in a mini-form. The salvation of self and family-members lies in this only. Needless to say that to achieve success in this experiment, first we have to reform ourselves. This desired second step of forming a decent, integrated family will prove a very important link towards the formation of a new era.

Extraordinary Potentials of Our Brains

The tiny 'bag' the human brain contains an eternal treasure, which if used cautiously, can offer the accomplishments and bliss of a divine life. However, no valuables would be of any use, unless one recognizes their worth and mode of application. For example, if a tribal who has never seen or heard of any jewel finds a precious diamond on a street, he will not be able to make any fortune from it. Similarly, for a child a pearl would be no better than a shining stone and he would throw the pearl away after playing with it for a short while.
That, conscious mind in the brain can think - is well known. The tasks of reading, writing, learning and teaching are also performed by it; this way its potentials are normally used for sustenance of livelihood and worldly success. If one seeks deeper insight and thoroughly links one's thought process with the eminence of truth and purity of knowledge, one might acquire some day, the honored status of a saintly scholar or a revered erudite. This could be accomplished even if he or she does not possess any material wealth or higher social status.
The root of inspiration is also contained in the core of the brain. The direction of thinking is guided by this inner power which in turn governs one's behavior and deeds. Looking at one's lifestyle, mannerism and activities, we can easily infer the level and direction of his thinking. In short, one's character and life is largely shaped by his thoughts, by the inspirations of his mind.
Unraveling still deeper layer in the core og the brain show a greater reservoir of the 'gems and pearls 'gems and pearls' of astonishing powers. Realizations of this source of immense potential and cautious attempts to channelize and make use of the associated streams of mental and spiritual currents can elevate one's life from an ordinary to an extraordinary, glorious level.
In terms of structure, physiology and biochemistry, the human brain appears to be a living reservoir of electrical power instead of an organ made up of flesh and bones. Its millisecond-to-millisecond activities compare with that of a huge (electrical) power station. It seems as if God has kept a magical box in the compact basket of the skull. The sensitivity, creativity and level of consciousness of the brain is so high as compared to the other organs of human body that one could consider it as the core of the very existence of a human being.
At functional level a human brain has two parts. One, that encompasses the activities of the mind and the intellect,. The faculties of thinking logic, analysis and decision making etc are governed by this part. The other part stores the memories, habits and inherent tendencies, this part also controls the motor and sensory functions of the body. Blood flow through the veins and arteries, consistent pumping of the heart, maintenance of the respiratory cycle, compression and expansion of the muscles, automatic twinkling of eyelids, regularization of metabolism, sleep, hunger, urination, motions etc - are all activated and controlled continuously be the unconscious mind existing in the latter half of the brain. This could be termed as the latent mind.
Each organ of the body is like an instrument, which is well equipped with sophisticated components. But none of these can function automatically without the supply of energy and regulatory instructions from the unconscious mind. Despite extensive research on human brain, much of it, especially the unconscious mind still remains un-deciphered.
The conscious mind sleeps during the night. It faints due to intoxication or anesthesia. In an instance of local anesthesia - when a particular portion of the body is temporarily made unconscious, the nerves connecting this organ with the conscious portion of the brain are inactivated. Thus, the signals of pain induced by a surgical operation of that particular organ do not reach the conscious mind and so the operation is performed painlessly. It is the conscious mind that gets agitated or excited and suffers from mental disorders.
Treatments in the mental hospital are focused at the patient's conscious mind only. Medications of psychiatric disease comprise of targeting and controlling this conscious faculty of the brain with respect to specific damage or abnormality. Though substantial progress has been made in understanding regulating and refining the conscious mind, the researchers of psychology and neurosciences have so far analyzed only negligible fraction of the unconscious (including the subconscious and super conscious) mind. The auto regulation, physiological and other bodily functions are found to be normal in an insane person who is otherwise healthy. Such observation shows that insanity or disorders of the conscious mind have negligible effects on the auto regulatory activities of the unconscious mind.

Extraordinary Potentials of Our Brains -I

The brain processes its functions with the help of a complex network of nerve cells - neurons. There are about 1010 (thousand billion) - which is almost double the total human population on the earth! - Neurons in this network. The connecting nerve fibers and insulating materials are also filled within the skull. The neurons are scattered in the brain like a galaxy of billion-trillion stars (sources of energy), which instead of gravitational attraction, are connected by synaptic fibers. The diameter of a neuron is lesser than one thousandth part of an inch and its weight is of the order of six thousand billionth parts (6x1010) of an ounce. The bio-electrical currents flowing between the neurons via the nerve fibers carry the information in the form of signals (impulses) from the sense organs to the axon of a neuron is a tiny fiber like structure, which is connected with the other neurons. The functional brain is a complex network of the synaptic connections between the neurons.
The gigantic collection and networking of the thousand billion neurons posses astonishing powers of a divine giant……. The tiny neurons despite their negligible size and weight contain the potentials of a complete human being. Humans could be dull, careless or inactive but, the neurons are not - they are never waned or weakened in their normal lifetime, nor do they leave their efficient processing. Some portions of the neuronal network store - like microfilm, the memories of the ages. Even, what might appear to be a forgotten matter at the superficial level of our active memory, is actually not lost from the registers of the brain.., its inscriptions remain stored in growth of grass, the flashes of the forgotten matters or events are revived in the active memory as and when an opportunity arrives by the stimulation of the associated portion of the neuronal network. Dr. Penfield - neurologist of Canada had activated some memory cells of a patient by transmitting electrical impulses. To his surprise, the patient narrated the story and songs of a film as if he has just seen it, though in fact, he had watched that movie about twenty years ago.
Examples of extraordinary memory of some people often illustrate the immense power of the human brain. The sharp intellect and spontaneous decision making in some people is so remarkable that they appear like "super humans". People having extraordinary talents are not some exceptional beings who are endowed with such divine gifts. In fact, the seed of such faculties lies in the brain of every human being. In some people it is inherently sprouted and grown significantly to manifest supernatural talents. However, it might blossom in the others too if cultivated by dedicated efforts.
Dr. Penfield's research on human brain has shown that it has the normal capacity of storing (memorizing) as many bytes of knowledge as could be contained in over 20,000 printed pages of a journal. On an average, a person views about hundred thousands scenes of visual objects. Along with the visual perceptions, his brain also helps in the recording and recognition of the shape, color, pattern, sound, smell and tangible features of the corresponding objects and transpires associated feelings in the mind. Whatever we observe or read in a day, most of it appears to have been forgotten by us the next day although, all of it remains stored in back of the brain. This is because of the lack of our concentration and the dirt of our abrupt or malign thinking that we insulate our conscious mind from the deeper layers of the brain.
We often do not pay much attention to cleanup and fine-tune this divine machinery by purifying and controlling our thoughts and emotions and protecting our brains from excitations at the level of sensory and motor activities. Sincere and disciplined practices of Swadhaya - aiming at the uplifting of the self and the society as an integral part of progress, offers adept guidance and support for proper conditioning of the mind. Practices of Yoga and meditation are also used in training the brain and refining its intellectual faculties. Our careless attitude towards Swadhaya and mediation, irregularities in our life, ignorance about our internal world is largely responsible for waning the awaken potentials of our brain and dumping its inherent talents in a dormant state forever.
If we model the 'on' (excited) and 'off' (inactive) states of a neuron as the 0 and 1 bits of a computer memory, the basic storage in the memory of the human brain would be analogous to so many bytes that even a magnetic tape of area equal to that of the earth's surface would be insufficient to record this huge amount of information. Specific pieces of this grand stock of information are processed by the functional coding sequences of DNA and RNA. Dr Holgar Hyden of Sweden has shown that the structural state of human brain is not rigid. Its capacity and potentials can be varied with the help of specific (bio) chemicals.
The human brain has much more complex and developed structure as compared to that of any other creature. Its resistance against external treatments also is high. However, the experiments of above kind have made a section of scientific community believe in principle that the tendencies and behavior of humans could also be controlled with the help of electrical and chemical treatments. If this becomes possible then one day a dictator or whimsical ruler would virtually convert the people of his kingdom as his slaves by forcing them to drink a chemical which would change their mind as per his will …! What will be the use of intellectual activities of reading, writing, thinking, etc. if a handful of scientists would be able to uplift the mental faculties of people by certain electrical or chemical treatment? Then the generations of warriors, scholars, farmers, artists etc will be produced by appropriate treatment of the brains of the offspring's in the laboratory!
Whether we are awaken or asleep, the brain continues to regulate various functions of our body with the help of its neurons and the nerves connected with the other components of the body through the spinal column. This bulk of the brain, weighing only about three pounds, needs about 20 watts of electrical power for performing the routine nonstop tasks, this energy is obtained from the stock of glucose and oxygen available in the body. According to modern scientific understanding, each thought, desire, emotion, every kind of experience or perception corresponds to specific electrical impulses and biochemical processing inside the brain. The techniques like EEG (electroencephalograms) help visualize the electrical activities inside the brain.
Most of the investigations in neuroscience are at present aimed at medical treatment of the physical and mental abnormalities due to the imbalance or damage in the harmonious functioning of the brain. Deeper understanding of the brain - especially the unconscious and subtler mind might help the researchers to find the methods of improving one's mental faculties and elevating the level of thoughts and emotions.
Nor only the exceptional memory, the strong willpower of some people also sets live examples of the internal strength of the human brain. Dr. Ralf Alexander had demonstrated this power publicly in Mexico City several years ago. The viewers of this show included the representatives of leading newspapers and magazines, groups of scientists, intellectuals and elite of the society along with the general public. Dr Ralf had planned to demonstrate how the clusters of clouds could be formed in a desired shape and moved in the sky at one's will.
The show began as per schedule. The sky was clear at that time. After a short while, the demonstrator - Dr. Ralf 'brought' clouds there on public demand. With the help of his strong willpower, he could change the shapes, scattering patterns and movements of the clouds as per the demand of the viewers. The news of this exciting exhibition of the remote influence of willpower had then appeared under bold headlines in almost all newspapers of America.
Renowned scientist Allen Epragate had written a detailed article in the magazine 'Psychology' with reference to Dr Ralf's demonstrations. He had commented that - the willpower of a human is a special kind of (electrical) energy current by which one can influence the activities of nature in the targeted space. This is a scientific method of triggering high energy aura; such demonstrations should not be regarded as magical shows.
The above discussed are few illustrations of the extraordinary capabilities of the human brain. In the deeper depths of this ocean of consciousness there lie more amazing potentials which are still beyond the reach of modern (material based) sciences. The science of spirituality is much advanced in this regard. It offers the methods of internal evolution, realization and control of the brain without using any external means. It also contains the key of sublime transformation of the physical, mental and spiritual levels of all human beings.
